The University of Sydney will launch the Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centre for Innovative BioEngineering on 31 May 2018. The Centre will be funded by the ARC, the NSW Department of Industry, Australian universities and both domestic and international industry partners to fulfil an unmet need for improved musculoskeletal therapies. It will provide a world-class training environment for students and early career researchers to work alongside established industry specialists. They will engineer a set of commercially-viable technologies for musculoskeletal tissue regeneration that deliver personalised, smart implants which integrate with the recipient’s own bone and include embedded biosensors to assess and optimise the healing process.
